Summary

Wilpena head station. William Chace an employee of Browne Brothers enabled Wilpena Pound to be surveyed in 1851. Henry Strong Price, who arrived in South Australia in 1842, built the homestead in Wilpena Pound which had 17,000 sheep and 5,000 cattle by 1953. The traditional owners are the Adnyamathanha people. The photograph shows a cottage with two ladies standing nearby and a man and his dog standing near two horses. Huge gum trees tower over the scene
