Summary

[General description] The Y.W.C.A. Building was constructed in 1900 of red bricks in the Federation style. An impressive entrance with tall pillars either side supporting a balcony and a corner turret are features of the building, designed by architects G. de Lacy Evans and R J Haddon of Melbourne. [On back of photograph] 'Acre 147 / Hindmarsh Square, west side / May 25th 1911 / Young Women's Christian Association / The right side of Y.W.C.A. is 30 yards south of Grenfell Street / Frontage is 13.5 yards'.
