Summary

[General description] This is a two storey building with shuttered windows and a portico with square pillars. A Norfolk Island pine tree looks to be outgrowing its position in front of the building. A large lantern hangs from an archway over the front gate where some gentlemen wearing top hats (bank managers?) are posing for the camera. The first branch of this bank was established in South Australia in 1850. [On back of photograph] 'Union Bank, Pirie Street, south side / Left side of Bank is 10 yards west of Gawler Place / Frontage 22 yards'.
