'Buffalo' float in the Centenary Pageant

View of one of the floats taking part in the Centenary Pageant through Adelaide streets, featuring the 'Buffalo'. The photo was taken from the balcony of the department store 'Peoplestore' (66-74 Gouger Street, north side) where the photographer worked until her marriage in 1941. A. A. Robinson's butcher's shop and A.R. Myers pawnshop can be seen on the opposite side of the street (65a and 69 Gouger Street respectively).

Ships at Port Germein

Three views of the ships including the windjammer 'Admiral Karpfanger' approaching Port Germein to take on a load of wheat. This proved to be the last voyage for the ship, which disappeared en route to Britain after leaving on 8th February 1938.The photos were taken by Ivy Brenton whilst visiting Port Germein on as part of a 'Gulf trip' aboard the M.V. 'Moonta'. The first ship is not the 'Admiral Karpfanger' as it is a three masted ship.

'The Gulf trip - 6 pounds for 6 days' saw the ship visit Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Port Augusta and Port Hughes as well as Port Germein, Wallaroo and possibly Whyalla. The photographer was one of the passengers on the trip.
