[General description] The two storey stone house has an upstairs balcony with crossed wooden railings. There is a pile of sand in the front yard and the front door is hanging open; perhaps renovations are under way. Its neighbour, a one storey cottage nestles close. Kermode Street, south side, February 14th 1941, right side of the cottage is 36 yards east of Union Street and frontage is 12 yards. The cottage stands 35 yards from Kermode Street alighment. It was a whitewashed stone cottage with two doors and three windows. Amn elderly woman in standing in one of the doorways. Clumps of flowers are growing across the grass in the foreground.

Kermode Street, north side, May 25th 1936, frontage of cottages is 13.5 yards. These cottages were demolished in 1936, for new residence erected the same year see B 6954. Right side is directly opposite the west side of Union Street.

Kermode Street, north side, April 2nd 1937, frontage of building is 11 yards.This residence was erected on a site previously occupied by cottages which were demolished in 1936. Compare with B 6869. This site is directly opposite the west side of Union Street. The house has a sharply pitched tiled roof, and a dominant gable at the front of the house and lattice windows.

Sussex Street, north side, January 4th 1936. Lucy Morice Free Kindergarten. Near side of kindergarten is 30.5 yards west of West Pallant Street and frontage is 16.5 yards. The kindergarten was erected in 1935 on a vacant site. Two small bare footed boys are standing next to the gate of the kindergarten. Louise (Lucy) Morice was the niece of Catherine Helen Spence and was a social reformer and kindergarten worker. She donated 500 pounds towards the establishment of the Lucy Morice Kindergarten. She helped to found the Kindergarten Union of South Australia in 1905.

It is Acre 205 Pirie Street in the centre and the buildings are Union Bank of Australia, then the manse, side of Wesleyan Methodist Church.

First School Memorial

First South Australian School Memorial plaque on North Terrace west, erected in 1836, opposite Trinity Church. It was unveiled by the Minister of Education on December 4th, 1936. The inscription reads "Near this site the first school of the South Australian School Society was opened on 28 May, 1838. The first schoolmaster was John Banks Shepherdson. The building afterwards housed the first Public Library. Erected by the South Australian Public Teachers Union and the Adelaide City Council 1936".

[General description] Looking down on Government House and its garden from a building on North Terrace. The Union Jack is flying from a flag pole and the gatehouse guards the house and grounds. On King William Road the triple fronted building housing the Swimming Baths can be seen. The Rotunda stands in Elder Park and the steeples of North Adelaide can be seen above the trees. [General description] This view shows the end wall of a stone cottage, part of the old barracks complex. A tree, possibly a ficus, is on the right. The archway at the entrance to the quadrangle was built in 1854, probably to the design of the Colonial Architect, W. Bennett Hayes. There was originally another similar one on the western side. North Terrace looking east from Morphett Street. Near side of house on extreme right is 79 yards east of Morphett Street. The railway yards and the shed for Huddart, Parker & Co. Coal Importers, and Henry Hill and Co. Railway and General Carriers are visible. Parliament House can be seen on the northern side of North Terrace. On the southern side the buildings seen include Harrold Brothers, Adelaide Milling Company, Union Engineering, Grayson's Coffee Palace. A row of horse drawn carriages await passengers outside the railway station. The spire of Scots Church, formerly Chalmers Free Church can be seen further along North Terrace on the corner of Pulteney Street.

[General description] The building on the left has arched, leadlight windows and a cement wreath surrounding an oval shaped window on its gable above the door. It has ivy growing on its walls. New additions on the right are the Mayo Refectory (centre) and the George Murray building (far right). The hall was originally constructed to seat 499, with a stage 72 feet from front to back and a proscenium arch of 38 feet.
