Banner of the Australasian Society of Engineers used in street processions. In 1912, the union determined that their organisation needed their own, distinctive, banner, with this decision reported in Adelaide's 'Daily Herald', 4 April 1912: 'The Australasian Society of Engineers has decided to have a new banner for the next eight hours procession. At last night's meeting of the society it was resolved that a gold medal should be offered for the best style of banner. The secretary is now prepared to accept and design from those wishing to enter into the competition.3 The banner selected was made in 1912 by the artist and later signwriter, Christoper William McLennan (1874-1933), who lived and worked in the Port Adelaide and Semaphore area.
