Military funeral in Adelaide

Military funeral in Adelaide

A military funeral in Adelaide led by a horse drawn cortege followed by slow marching soldiers bearing reversed arms. Suggested by a researcher that it is the funeral cortege of Sergeant Henry Hannam of B Company, 10th Australian Regiment, which took place on Sunday 7th July 1907 at the West Terrace Cemetery after a funeral procession through the city. This photo appears to have been taken on Sturt Street, just before Chatham Street and looking east. Obituaries for Sergeant Hannam appeared in "The Chronicle", Saturday 13 July 1907, page 29, and 'The Observer', Saturday 13 July 1907, page 38.
