He was made KCMG in June 1893.

[General description] Head and shoulders portrait in seven eighths view of Alexander Tolmer, colonial militiaman, and mounted policeman who was Inspector of Mounted Police from 1840. He was very successful in that role, spending much time in the bush pursuing bushrangers, cattle duffers and other miscreants and quelling trouble between whites and Aborigines. He was appointed Commissioner of Police from January 1852 during which time he established the gold escort from Victoria to South Australia. He was demoted to Superintendent in November 1853.

He was a working miner at Moonta when elected to the House of Assembly for Wallaroo in June 1901. Seven years later he was chosen leader of the Parliamentary party. Premier and Commissioner of Public Works from June 1910 to 1912. Leader of the Opposition; Chairman of the Standing Railway Committee for three years, and was a member of the House of Assembly until the election of 1918 when, following the split with the Labour Party on the conscription issue he stood as a Nationalist and lost his seat. Elected Senator for South Australia by the State Parliament 30th August 1927 to fill the vacancy.'

Head and shoulders portrait of Henry Warren: First Mayor of Port Pirie. In this photograph he is an elderly man with grey hair, moustache and beard. He was born in Melbourne in Derbyshire, England, and arrived in Australia aboard tahe ship 'Tubal Cain', and lived in Victoria for a year before settling in South Australia. He was a member of the firm of Messrs. Magarey & Co. at Hindmarsh, and built flour mills in the Two Wells district in 1867 and at Port Pirie in 1876. He retired to Kent Town and died in 1891.

Edward married Marion Inman on 16.9.1874 and they had four children; Grace May 4.10.1875, Inman 1.9.1876, James 21.12.1877 and Marion 14.3.1879. Marion died on 21.3.1879 and Edward married Sarah Hill on 19.6.1880, they had one child Lina on 29.1.1881. Edward died suddenly while performing surgery on 28.9.1901 aged 54. An Obituary is published in The Register of 30.9.1901 pg 5 [On back of photograph] 'Dr. E.W. Way. M.B. Edin. / Lecturer on Obstetrics and Gynaecology / Univ. Adelaide / 188-19'.

Other churches were established including Yankalilla, Normanville, Finniss Vale, Peachey Belt, Willunga, Findon and the City Chapel in Young Street.
