Henry Weman, sailmaker, tent and tarpaulin maker, and ships' provider of Port Adelaide. In 1864 Weman opened his business in Port Adelaide after he settled there in approximately 1852. Weman Building constructed during 1870s and 1880s housed the sail making business of Henry Weman and was situated on the corner of Jane and Lipsonj Streets. The complex consisted of a sail loft and warehouse and a two storey business that operated as a ship's chandlery and a grocery. It featured facilities for manufacturing sails and sailcloth. Henry Weman immigrated to South Australia aboard the "Challenger" in 1854

Reverend Frederick Taylor Whitington - Register staff member. The Register was originally known as the South Australian Gazette and Colonial Register and later the South Australian Register was South Australia's first newspaper. It was first published in London in June 1936 and moved to Adelaide in 1837. Frederick Whitington left his lawyer's office to work at the South Australian Register, making use of his training as an articles clerk to report on the Adelaide Supreme Court. He was promoted to sub-editor. He was ordained at age of 24 to the Anglican Church.

John Charles Shorey White arrived in South Australia on the "Coromandel" in January 1837. He conducted the first Wesleyan-Methodist services on the mainland of S.A. on 22 January, 1837. See Rev. J Blacket's "South Australian Romance" and Rev. J Haslam's "History of Methodism in South Australia". Later he built the Hindmarsh Wesleyan Church. He went to Sydney in 1842. He wrote "History of Australian Bushranging".
