[General description] Judge William Alfred Wearing, lost in the wreck of the Gothenburg on the Queensland coast on 24 February 1875, aged 59 years. Over one hundred people were drowned in the disaster including all women and children on board and many high ranking civil servants and dignitaries. Only twenty two men survived.

Judge William Alfred Wearing was appointed Crown Solicitor and third judge of the Supreme Court of South Australia. Part of his duties included holding the Palmerston Circuit Court in the Northern Territory. On one of his return visits his ship was wrecked and he drowned.

Alfred Weaver, pastoralist, 1801-1891. Notes on the back of the photograph state "Alfred Weaver, pastoralist, born 1801 died 1891 Edwardstown. Mr and Mrs Alfred [Weaver] arrived in SA in the "Katherine Stewart Forbes" in 1839. By 1840 he had established himself on a property on South Road which was planted with wheat, barley and oats, and also ran sheep. Later he owned property at Currency Creek and on the Yorke Peninsula but returned to his South Road property where he also grew vines.

Mrs Weidenbach was the owner of the "King of Hanover Inn". According to a family researcher, this is not a photograph of Diosma and Maximilian Friederich Weidenbach.

Sir William Ernest George Archibald Weigall, 1874-1952, Governor of South Australia. This cutting is taken from 'United Empire' about March 1935. Sir Weigall was appointed Governor in 1920 and left in 1922. He was disenchanted with the State Parliament and believed that Australia would be better served by having no division of power. He was wrongly informed that the State Parliament would pay for his staff's wages. After his departure the Governor's salary was raised.

Harrison Weir, Government Printer was born at Norwood February 26, 1868 and was enrolled as a scholar at Norwood Public School on its opening day. Formerly at Vauxhall House School, Magill Road, St. Peters. He entered the Government Printing Office on January 29, 1881 serving in the clerical branch until 1885, when he was apprenticed to learn the trade of printing. He was Overseer in 1912, Superintendent in 1929 and Government Printer in 1927. He retired in 1935. Altogether, he served in the Government Printing Office for 53 years. He held the position of Hononary Secretary of St Peters Institute for 20 years, Secretary of Norwood Church of Christ Literary Society for some years and was President of the Flinders Street Baptist Literary Society, with which he was associated for more than 30 years. He was editor of 'Baptist Record' for 30 years.

He was modest, reticient and a friend of Aboriginals where he was known as the Eagle-eyed Man.
