A group of soldiers from the 3rd Light Horse, Machine Gun Section, pictured with their dog mascot in front of the stables at 'The Lodge', the Hawker's property which was used for the Morphettville Camp during the war. Frank L.G. Smith is seated 4th from left in the front row, the officer to his left (in a pre-war militia uniform) was probably a camp instructor. The men in this photo embarked from Adelaide on board Transport A17 'Port Lincoln' on 20 October 1914, and the roll identifies the men (although not where they appear in the photo).
