Historical information

This is a broad gauge X class goods truck, featuring buffers and couplings. Built for the broad gauge, several were later classed XX and transferred to the SAR's narrow gauge lines at Peterborough and Port Lincoln. They were never as numerous as the more common Y trucks, which were wider and longer. (Information supplied by a researcher).
