Lithograph depicting a busy street scene on the corner of Rundle and King William Streets, including the famous Bee Hive Corner. All manner of street life is depicted, from a bullocky and his team, to the carriages of the gentry. This artwork is number 8 of a series of lithographs by S. T. Gill of views in Adelaide published by Penman & Galbraith. No.3 in a series (see B 4198 for no.1 and B 4498 for No.2).

In 1875 the original Ellen Street Station was located with the track running down the middle of the street, as seen in this photograph.

The premises of Parsons and Robertsons mechanical and electrical works consists of twin cottages joined by a central throughway. Residential two storey bluestone cottages are located next door. A church steeple can be seen over the roofs of the cottages. [On back of photograph] Acres 211 and 228 Pulteney Street, east side. Nov. 26th, 1925. Premises of Parsons and Robertson demolished in 1926. Compare with B 4210. Left side of Parsons' premises is 36 yards south of Pirie Street. [On back of photograph] 'Acre 164 / Hyde Street, west side / looking towards Pirie St. / June 16, 1926 / The building in the foreground (not the one in process of construction on the corner of Pirie Street) was erected about 1914 and at the time of being photographed was in process of receiving one or more additional stories.
