Mt. Gambier looking east along Commercial Street in 1890. Jens Hotel built in 1884 can be seen next to the Town Hall which was built in 1882. The clock tower was donated by TC Ellis of Benara Station in 1883. In the foreground on the left stands the verandah of Mac's Hotel which was named after the first licensees, Mr MacDonald and Mr McKenzie. The McKenzie sign can just be seen above the verandah near the ornate lamp post
