Mounted soldiers of the South Australian Light Horse Regiment on parade for a Colour Presentation ceremony at Morphettville racecourse, South Australia. See B 10302 for a photo taken at almost the same time. This photo appeared in 'The Advertiser' Monday 21 September 1914, page 9: 'The above picture, taken from an elevated position, shows the 3rd Light Horse Regiment drawn up in line of troop on the Morphettville Racecourse after the Governor had presented the colours. Lieutenant-Colonel Rowell, I.O.C. shown in the immediate foreground with Major Fulton who is second in command. A little to the left behind the O.C. the Transport and Machine Gun Sections attached to the Regiment are depicted on the right and left flank of the troops'. See PRG 280/1/29/73 for another photo taken just seconds apart from this one.

Steam Motor Coach No.1, 3'6' steam rail motor, at Hawker. A researcher notes that the Westinghouse air pump in front of the driving cab is located on the left side of the engine when looking forward from the cab to the funnel. Both Steam Motor Coach No.1 (also known as the Coffee Pot) and SMC No.2 (known as the Coffee Pot as well) had their pumps moved from the inside cab wall to the outer wall on the driver's side (South Australia had the driver's position generally on the left hand side of the engine).

[General description] The Bell Inn is a two storey stone building with a corner entrance and a wide double storey front verandah which features a large advertisement for Penfolds Port. Mrs Jean A. Peterson was the licensee from 7th May- 6th November 1932 so this photograph was probably taken then. This hotel, now known as the Gilbert, is still in operation in 2012. See B 3915 for a photo before addition of verandah and short history of the hotel. [On back of photograph] 'Acre 611 / Gilbert St., north side / corner of Russell St. / June 25th 1928 / The balcony of the Bell Inn was erected in 1927. For photo. taken prior to its erection see B 3915. / Hotel measurements: Gilbert Street frontage 14 yards / Russell Street frontage 17.5 yards'.

MANNUM: An early make delivery van from Mannum with its driver owner John Hanna Nehmy, during the 1930's when he was a hawker in the Mannum rural area. He arrived in Australia from Lebanon in November 1927 and lived at Mannum until his death in December 1979. The child would be the daughter of a customer. He would have been in his 30's then.

Brinkworth trip : September 1913. Bungaree Chapel built by George Hawker on his property. The church is the only building on the farm actually designed by an architect. Edward Hamilton, a colonial architect at the time, was also George's brother-in-law. was opened 1864 by Bishop Short. The chapel has a stringybark roof which was covered by iron in the mid 1880's. George handed Saint Michael's Church over to the parish in 1871. The Church has handpainted stainglass windows.
