Land transfer from Admiral Edward Hawker to his son George Charles Hawker and Thomas Lipson, conveyance of one acre in Carrington Street near Hurtle Square for the sum of "ten pounds of lawful British money". The parchment has three seals across the bottom.

Railway Station, Hawker. The township was named after the Honourable George Charles Hawker, grazier, politician and Speaker of the House of the South Australian Government. The railway arrived in 1880 carrying passengers, wheat, wool, stock and supplies.

General view of Hawker. Hawker is a town in Central Flinders Ranges which was surveyed in 1880. It is an arid area which supports sheep grazing. Buildings seen in this photograph include the Railway Station complex, Royal Hotel, Post Office and Institute Building.

General view of Hawker in the 1900s. The town was surveyed in 1880 and was named after a member of the South Australian Parliament. It was a thriving railway centre and a wheat producing agricultural region. Among the buildings seen in this photograph are the premises of Henry Gadd's general store, a post office which opened in 1880 and two hotels which opened in 1881.Two flour mills operated in Hawker from 1884 although Dunn's mill closed in 1899 due to failing crops. The first Methodist church was built in 1880 and replaced by a stone building in 1884. There was also a school which had 63 students when it first opened.

Hotel in Hawker
A sign on the front of the hotel reads 'Daybreak Hotel', but the Wonoka Hotel in Hawker, South Australia, was used for all external shots in the fiming of the television series 'Boney' in 1971 and 1972. The hotel ceased trading in 1958 and was demolished in 1980.
