Architectural sketch of proposed Brompton Methodist Church. The origin of the church was traced back to 1839 when a Sunday School was formed in Bowden with Mr John Dawkins as superintendent. In 1841 Bowden was one of four chapels and 25 regular preaching places operating in South Australia. The church was built in 1875 and before that services were held in the adjacent lecture hall

[General description] Full length portrait of Caleb Peacock, seated, wearing his robes during his term as a very popular Mayor of Adelaide from 1875-77. He was elected to the South Australian House of Assembly seat of North Adelaide in 1878. He spent much of his later years managing the family tannery and wool scouring business at Bowden.

The Cross family: L-R Susan (nee Williams), Walter William Charles (b.5 July 1874), Verena Ella (b.12 February 1880) and Charles. Charles and Susan married at Bowden on 5 March 1868, their first child William Charles was born 5 December 1868 and died on 8 December 1872. Charles died at Brompton on 11 December 1895 aged 80 years. Walter married Clara Matters on 17 December 1902.
