Group of young men, possibly Customs staff, near a memorial erected in 1884 to H.W.H. Stevens, R.C.S. Buckland, J.R. Hineston; some carry tennis racquets and two dogs, a terrier and a dalmatian, are in the foreground. According to researcher Dr. Matthew Stephen, this image depicts a 'mock' memorial. All the men mentioned on it are actually alive at the time. It might be a 'present' of some kind, a special occasion from the Palmerston 'lads'.
