Crowds watching as a ribbon across a new bridge at Whitwarta, South Australia, over the River Wakefield, is about to be cut at the gala day held on Friday 14 August 1914. Mr F. McArdie, Chairman of the Balaklava District Council, requesting the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Hon. F.W. Young), to cut the ribbon and declare the bridge open for traffic.
