Hotel ruins, Nuccaleena
The ruins of the hotel at Nuccaleena, taken on September 29th, 1920. According to regulations, this hotel is situated half a mile from the mine. Until "quite recently" [quote in 1920], the track between the mine and the Inn was, in places, literally covered with thousands of empty bottles. Mount Tamoshanter is in the background.


Ruins of Hawson homestead, Kirton Point
KIRTON POINT: The ruins of the Hawson homestead where Frank Hawson was speared by hostile Aborigines in 1840; his remains were exhumed in 1911 and a memorial erected at Port Lincoln. Dr. W. Ramsay Smith, former City Coroner stands on the right, Dr. E. Kinmont stands in the cellar. According to Chrissie Myllika Houston, Frank Hawson was not speared at the house but at the shepherd's hut at Little Swamp (January 2011) [more complete copy at PRG 458/1/1/71].
