Booyoolie District Council Chamber, Laura which was founded in 1877. Laura was named after the wife of Herbert Hughes the owner of Booyoolie Station. At the time of the photograph the functions of the Booyoolie District Council and Laura Corporation were to be suspended and a new Council be formed. It was to be known as the District Council of Laura.

According to a researcher, this is the Laura War Memorial on the corner of Herbert and Hughes Streets, Laura. It was unveiled in 1921. It was a World War One monument but now also has a World War Two inscription.

Laura L.A. Haddrick

Portrait, taken in September 1867, of Lavinia Laura Adeline Haddrick, eldest child of Thomas Gregory Haddrick and Bridgetta Ann McKniff. The daguerreotype has been tinted, and subsequently re-framed in a gold and cream mount and wooden frame. [The frame was made by Laura's father who was a cabinet maker.] Laura married August Heinrich Beyer on 5 October 1871.
