Entrance to Dutton Park. F.H. Dutton donated 500 pounds for the acquisition of a recreation ground in 1875. The area was named Dutton Park. Further donations of 100 pounds each were received from F.H. Dutton in 1882 and 1885 and, on his death, Dutton Park received 500 pounds from his estate. The Dutton family's financial support contined, H.H. Dutton assisting the financing of a new pavilion in 1904 and new main gates, which opened in 1906, and were wider than the previous gateway.

J. Frost designed the hospital and it was built by Messrs. March and Jaffrey. The Foundation stone was laid with Masonic Honours on 9th January 1877 by Mr H.T. Morris, representing Mr F.H. Dutton, the first donor of 2,500 pounds towards the new hospital. In September 1877, the property was duly invested in the hands of Trustees, and the hospital opened on 1st November 1877. In 1880 the land and houses adjoining the hospital were purchased. In 1885 a verandah was erected. In 1891 an iron stable shed was erected. Nurses can be seen on the verandah.

Small church, thought to be at Navan. Previously thought to have been at Kapunda. Navan Roman Catholic cemetery is located at Riverton. A note on the back of this photograph says that according to Mrs O'Donnell of Riverton this church was demolished in 1876 and the stone was used for the building of the Catholic Church of St John and St Paul at Tarlee. Tarlee came into existence as a stopover point on the road between Kapunda and Burra mines

Robert Fotheringham

Robert Fotheringham

[General description] This is a sepia portrait of Robert Fotheringham in an oval frame. Robert and Thomas Fotheringham took over the family brewery along with their brother James. James and his brother Alexander arrived in the colony in 1838 and participated in the special survey of Gawler area by Light Finiss and Co. Their father David operated a whiskey distillery in Cambus Scotland. Along with brothers George and David, breweries were established by the brothers in Gawler, Kapunda and South Africa.

Robert Fotheringham

Robert Fotheringham of Kapunda was a brother to five other brothers who migrated to South Australia. Robert arrived with brother Thomas in 1855 and joined the family brewing business. They later expanded the business from Gawler to Kapunda. The brothers became prominent and respected citizens in the community

James Scandrett

James Scandrett

[General description] Studio portrait of James Scandrett of Kapunda, one of the proprietors of the Kapunda Herald newspaper from 1864 until his death in 1903. He is seated and has short hair, a trimmed greying beard and wears a dark three quarter length coat with light trousers.

Fencing is both post and rails and post and (heavy gauge) wire. The bottom right hand corner of the sketch bears the inscription: 'Drawn by J.G.O.
