The Adelaide Oval, during a cricket match: England versus South Australia, 30th October, 1897. The visiting English side was captained by AE Stoddart and Lyons captained the South Australian side. Ernest Jones for SA was no-balled in the match. The photograph shows the crowds, some sitting under sun umbrellas and the grandstands which dominate in the Oval.

[General description] The small bi-plane flies over a perfect snapshot of North Terrace, circa 1914. The Institute building appears on the extreme left, and next door to it is the Mortlock Library. The Museum building beyond has just been completed. Further down is the dome of the Exhibition Building. Telegraph poles march down the centre of North Terrace and accompanying them are the ornate poles supporting the wires for the latest innovation, the electric tram.

The 'Dimsdale'

[General description] The 'Dimsdale', a British iron ship which collided with the Wonga Shoal lighthouse, drowning both keepers. The wreckage of the lighthouse can be seen on the left. The accident happened on the 17th November, 1912. Captain John Jones was found guilty of negligence by a court of enquiry and his license suspended for twelve months.
