Heinrich family album, compiled by Ilona Oppenheim from loose family photographs. Notes found on the verso of photographs are noted in the caption in inverted commas. Topics include life at Hermannsburg Mission in the Northern Territory in the nineteen twenties, with photographs of some Aboriginal people and visitors to Hermannsburg, including scientists, government officials and tourists. Photos 293-295 are restricted from view pending assessment of Aboriginal content. These images include 293. Ceremonial tjuringa stones of the Hermannsburg area (restricted); 294. 'Manangananga' sacred cave (restricted); 295. 'Holy cave 17 April 1929 (Dad's birthday)'. Large group of Aboriginal people from the Hermannsburg Mission gathered at a sacred spot (restricted). Photos 296-302 have not been digitised. These are duplicated elsewhere in other Heinrich albums or lantern slides.

Album containing thirty six albumen plates with printed captions, showing Aboriginal people encountered during the Elder Scientific Exploration Expedition, 1891-1892. The expedition left from Nilpinna Spring, near Cootanoorina in northern South Australia and explored areas of the Everard Ranges, Birksgate Ranges, Fraser Ranges and Hampton Plains regions in Western Australia. An index to the numbered plates appears at the front of the album. The wording of the captions is taken directly from the printed labels below the plates.

Material collected during the historic American-Australian Scientific Expedition to Arnhem Land (AASEAL), Northern Territory. Papers include multiple field notes, diaries, correspondence, accounts, original artworks, maps and documentary photographs including additional text with descriptions, meanings and diagrams, newspaper articles, typescript records of Aboriginal songs, sound recordings and other sundries. Also contains a journal relating to the complementary expedition to western Arnhem Land the following year. See below for further details.

Collection of enlargements of loose photographs, together with a collection of photograph negatives. Photographs relate to buildings, life and activities in and around Hermannsburg Mission (Finke River Mission) in the Northern Territory and include Aboriginal people and staff of the Mission, children of Hermann and Hilda Heinrich, Central Australian scenery and several photographs of planes and vehicles visiting Hermannsburg with parties of visitors. Captions on the photographs are noted in quotation marks. Some captions and additions to captions have been provided by Ilona Oppenheim. A selection of the negatives has been digitised, see photographs 52-77. Photograph negatives 78-200 have not been digitised. These are mostly scenery of the Hermannsburg area including Palm Valley, as well as the Heinrich family and are duplicated in other albums. For these see series 6-8.
