With the assistance of the steam tug Wato, the 2,509 ton R.M.S. Asturias of the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company under the command of Captain J.D. Spooner arrives at Outer Harbor on Monday 2 March 1908. The largest steamer built in Great Britain during 1907, Asturias was on her maiden voyage to Australia. From London, Asturias had called at Marseilles, Naples, Colombo and Freemantle. Of the 631 passengers 67 were booked for Adelaide, including Captain W.B. Knox, Commander J.C.T. Glossop R.N., Messrs F. Brown, J.S. Brunton, C. Payne, D. Kingsland, W. L. Taylor, E.H. Woolls, A.M. Stewart, J.C. williamson, A.H.Aitken, F.G. Sargood, Bromley, Mr and Mrs Tillottson, Rev. P. Flemming, and Misses McLennan. The Wato, owned by the Adelaide Steam Tug Company, was built in England in 1904 by J.T. Eltringham and delivered in 1905.
