It seems to be based on a 1907-1908 Ford Model 'S' (the fore-runner of the 'T') It has a 1911 Ford 'T' radiator fitted in place of the original one and a modified bonnet because of that. It appears that the crank-handle bearing and holder are home-made. [from information provided by a researcher].

Union Steamship Company of New Zealand ship Marama probably photographed in Auckland. Commissioned in 1907, Marama served on the NZ to San Francisco service. With the onset of WWI she was requisitioned by the NZ government for duties as a hospital ship transporting wounded from the UK to NZ. After the war Marama returned to civilian service until being laid up in 1937.

Portrait of William Nicholls, Caretaker. William Nicholls lived with his wife and family from 1876 to 1902 in an attached building behind the Institute Building, where there were apartments for the caretaker, taxidermists and others. In recognition of his years of service he was presented with a specially carved chair made for him. His obituary is in The Observer of 13 July 1907 on page 38. His son William Nicholls was headmaster at Pulteney Street School from 1901 to 1941, which for a time was nicknamed Nicholls' School after him.
