The left side of John Martin's (No. 98) is 42 yards west of Charles Street. The three storey building on the left was burned down on April 6 1901, [see BRG 121/1/598] after which the two storey portion was demolished to make way for the new premises, and the Magic Cave was excavated. She lived with her parents on a sheep station near Yass in NSW, surrounded by many domestic and wild animals. There were platypus in the creek on the property. The two storey house has a bay window, shutters, a wrought iron lace fenced balcony and stands next to the Grote Street Baker that offers 'dinners baked daily'. More brick buildings can be seen through the trees looking west along the southern side of Grote Street.
