Jeff Heath was born in Glenelg; from the age of seven he used a wheelchair due to bone cancer; he competed in archery and darchery at the 1976 Summer Paralympic Games in Toronto, Canada; completed a Bachelor of Arts (Recreation) from the University of South Australia in 1983; was editor of Link, a leasing Australian disability magazine and the founder of the Disability Information Resource Centre; was a member of the Australian Democrats, representative for South Australia on the national executive and national journal editor; was married to Yvonne Baillie with whom he had a daughter; died of mesothelioma on 7 March 2004.
