Summary

Special Thanksgiving Service, Mount Barker, 29 March 1936 when a tablet was unveiled on gum tree (shown in photo) commemorating an early visit paid to Mount Barker by Rev. R. Haining. Tablet inscription - 'The first religious service held at Mount Barker was conducted under this tree in 1842 by the Rev. Robert Haining of the Church of Scotland'. (See "Banner" May 1936, page 8)
