General notes

"The Fray Bentos was a wooden barque which had been a Spanish slave ship running slaves to Cuba. She arrived in Port Adelaide and was bought in 1883 by George Bailey, ... It is news to me that her remains are at the North Arm. There were leg and other irons on her to secure the slaves when on the Fray Bentos, and Bailey gave me samples of them which i now have stowed away somewhere." The Register newspaper, 9 February 1927, page 12.
