Historical information

Mary Ann Vickers was born in Barnstaple, England in 1839, and arrived in South Australia with her father George Vickery and mother Mary (nee Bowden) and siblings aboard the 'Buckinghamshire' in 1839. George and Mary worked as shop keepers in Meadows. She married William Ellis, son of George and Sophia Ellis, at Meadows in 1869, and they had five sons: Frederick Albert, William Vickery, Arthur George, Stanley Edgar and Edwin Bowden. Died in 1922.
