Caption on slide: 'Kangaroo Island, American River, from service lookout, April 1981'. A researcher has provided the following information: The T-Head jetty and upright gypsum conveyor at Ballast Head are visible in the far distance on the left, and the ketch 'Failie' can be seen in the middle distance in the centre. The 'Failie' has two masts of almost the same height, and the ketch always moored with her bow pointing upstream towards Muston. The Ballast Head facility was built in 1960 and the 'Failie' began the Kangaroo Island trade in 1968.
