Historical information

It is almost certain that M.J. Martin is Mary Jane Martin (also known as Polly), one of the children of Edward Montgomerie Martin and Anne Thornton who arrived on the "Anglia" in 1851. Mary Jane was born in 1846 and later married James Whitfield at the Unitarian Church, Adelaide in 1871. She lived until age 97 according to the family tree drawn up in PRG 550/6/17.
