Historical information

George Davies was one of Port Augusta's oldest residents when he died at the age of 76. 'He came to the North twenty-four years ago as Manager for the Yudnamutana Copper-mining Company. When the Company ceased operations he started in business as a financial commission agent, and continued it till his death. He also held the position of Corporation Auditor and Registrar of Births aad Deaths. He was well known and respected. Great regret was expressed by every one when it was known that Mr. Davies had passed away.' [South Australian Register, Friday 14 July 1893].
