Historical information

C class locomotive No. 6 was built by R. Stephenson & Co., in 1856 for service on the Gawler line. It along with C class locomotive No. 5 arrived Port Adelaide aboard the Poictiers. No. 6 was commissioned in 1857 and condemned in 1926. Y Class locomotive No. 161 was built by James Martin & Co., of Gawler, South Australia. It was commissioned in 1896 and condemned in 1929.
