Postcard sent by Carew Reynell from Cairo, dated 27 May 1915 in which he writes about living conditions for himself and two other soldiers. The photograph of Cairo is captioned 'The City of the Dead'. Qarafa or 'The City of the Dead' is a walled necropolis that is also home to many families and small businesses. It is now, as it was in 1915, a tourist attraction.
