General notes

The men in this photograph are: Sir John Bice (left) Sir George Ritchie (second from left) Commodore Dumaresque, Commander of H.M.A.S. 'Australia' (centre) Sir Henry Barwell, Premier of South Australia (second from right) John Mack, Mayor of Glenelg (right) The occasion was a welcoming reception held for the Commodore at Glenelg. This is very similar to another picture in the Library titled 'Commodore Dumaresque at a civic reception in Glenelg, South Australia' in which the subjects are identified. I believe that John Mack may have actually been born in 1856, not 1854 as suggested. [Information supplied by Stephen McDonald, 2008.]
