Summary

Men, women and children standing outside the fence that encloses the lighthouse and cottages in South Australia. Though originally thought to be Cape Borda Lighthouse, the Senior Guide there believes that the photograph is of the Cape Northumberland Lighthouse number 1 SE South Australia. It was demolished and a new one rebuilt in its place many years ago. It was the same as the Cape Borda Lighthouse originally and was completed in January 1859. Cape Borda lightkeepers' cottages were different to those shown and did not have a stone wall around them.
