Historical information

'Angler' was grounded at Point Lowly, SA with 14 passengers & stores & provisions. Burgoyne was owner/master. The boat departed Port Pirie 27 March 1913 with about 10 Wandearah farmers, a second mate and an apprentice of the barque Elginshire. Called at the Elginshire lying at the ballast grounds where the second mate and apprentice left, took on the first mate, then went to Point Lowly on a fishing excursion. Anchored in Lighthouse Bay to unload stores, swept onto the rocks by southerly gale after anchor failed to hold. Engine and other gear removed. All on board reached safety, were taken to Point Lowly Lighthouse, then brought back to Adelaide by cutter Seagull. The wreck is 20 yards from the water, high and dry on the rocks.
