This photograph is published in The Observer newspaper, 30 June 1923, page 28.

Historical information

'Four Winds' was built at Mannum, South Australia, of jarrah and kauri. Captain Arnold and four crew departed Port Adelaide on 23 June 1923 with the intention of circumnavigating Australia in her. After running into storms off Victoria she lost her mast and beached at Anderson's Inlet, Victoria. For a full account of the voyage see The Advertiser newspaper, 19 July 1923, page 10.
