Historical information

The Government offices are facing Victoria Square, the foundation stone of the building was laid on Thursday, April 4th 1839; part of the west side was demolished to make way for a new block built in 1859, the remainder was demolished 1874-5 to make way for a new three-storied block which was completed in 1876.
