Summary

Distant view of a mining settlement in a heavily forested area. A researcher has identified the mine as the Broken Hill Proprietary Company (BHP) smelter at the Broken Hill mine, showing BHP in its infancy. The Head frame left of the smoke stack is Rasp Shaft, the first shaft ever to be sunk into the ore body at Broken Hill. The Head Frame to the right is McCullochs shaft.
