General notes

Image spoiled by two horizontal tears.

Historical information

A photo of the Regiment, probably taken on the same day, appeared in the 'Chronicle', Saturday 17 July 1915. page 30 under the heading 'To serve their King and Country - South Australians who have volunteered for service at the front'. The caption reads 'Seventh Reinforcements 9th Light Horse'. There were two embarkations: from Adelaide on board HMAT 'Kanowna' on 24 June 1915, and from Sydney on board HMAT A21 'Marere' on 16 August 1915; and. The AWM Roll number 10/14/2 lists the members of the 7th reinforcements; those from South Australia number 34 - which matches the number pictured.
