Summary

A large group of young men and women described by Searcy as being 'repatriation staff' in Adelaide; Thomas James McGovern, Military Medal, is in second to top row, second from right. Other names not known. It has been suggested that the younger boys in the second row may have been Legacy wards who were employed as office/messenger boys.

General notes

Thomas James McGovern worked for the Repatriation Department as a clerk until 1925, after his own rehabilitation from injuries sustained in WW1. He lost his left arm and the 'Repat' gave him a prosthesis - the unnatural shape of his arm can be seen in the photo [from information provided by his granddaughter].
