Historical information

Jack Chalmers performed one on the more famous shark surf rescues of the 1920's and was the Australian Belt champion. He was assisted by Frank Beaurepaire (later Sir Frank, the distinguished Olympian) in this rescue. Jack Chalmers and brother Bobbie received two of the first three Albert medals for Bravery; Bobbie received his medal in a separate surf rescue.
