General notes

Searcy's caption gave the date of this image as 1915. Advice from a curator at the Royal Australian Navy Heritage Collection in Sydney about this image, places the 'Nimrod' in the Sutherland Dock, Cockatoo Island, Sydney between 20 April and 8 May 1909. The 'Nimrod' was used for Shackleton's 2nd polar expedition in 1908. His third expedition in 1914 was on the 'Endurance'.
