Summary

A winching machine on a dredging barge and a steam locomotive on the banks of a river, possibly the Murray River. The locomotive is a Baldwin and the barge is either the 60 foot or the 90 foot Derrick boat. Both were used during the construction of Lock 1 at Blanchetown. Additional information supplied by a researcher: This is the 90 foot derrick boat, evident by the length of the jib or boom at the bow or front of the vessel. The 60 foot derrick boat had a much shorter jib.
