General notes

According to Wilson and Borrow in 'The Bridge over the Ocean' (1973), lithographs of this view and others by Mary Hindmarsh were made in England in 1838. See PRG 50/37/1 for an image of the lithograph version, which has the title 'Government House Adelaide December 1837' written in pencil under the lithograph area.

Historical information

Mary Hindmarsh was the daughter of the first Governor of South Australia, Captain John Hindmarsh.
