Summary

Soldiers guarding dead animals and wreckage from a railway disaster at Belfast, Northern Ireland. According to an Irish researcher, this is, and was, referred to as an attack on a troop train at Adavoyle in County Armagh in Ireland - just north of the border with County Louth. The Barrier Miner reported on 27 June 1921 that 'The train which the Sinn Feiners wrecked at Adavoyle, and which was conveying troops who had formed part of the King's escort at Belfast, broke into two portions ... Seventy horses were killed outright and the troopers shot thirty other injured horses. [It was] reported that three persons were killed and thirty injured.'
