Summary

Horses pulling a wagon in deep sea water off a platform at Denial Bay. A researcher has noted that this is McKenzies Landing, a platform built to offload ships' cargo at high tide, then transfer via horse dray at low tide. "McKenzies Landing" was named after Pioneer William McKenzie who built it in 1892 before the construction of the Denial Bay Jetty. The platform still stands to this day & is a favorite roost for sea birds. Oliver Rollins Haseldine (1859-1919) was Mr McKenzie's blacksmith, and helped to build the Landing Stage (McKenzies Landing) at Denial Bay. He also helped to build a large wagon which was called 'Big Ben', which may be the dray in the photograph.
